The Toyota RAV4 was the perfect vehicle for us as a couple travelling around Salt Lake City and Moab for 10 days. The mid-size SUV was able to meet our needs with sufficient room and lots of space for luggage. Ember the Customer Services Agent who served us was excellent and was efficient with our pick-up. Ember did not try to sell us any unnecessary cover as we had booked everything in advance. The only minor issue was Ember wanted details of my return flight for the drop-off, which took me a bit of time to find. The drop-off was very easy and seamless with a printed receipt provided on request. I did not purchase a tank of fuel so I filled up the tank before dropping of the vehicle. There are lots of gas stations in the local area.

The first customer service representative at the car rental counter tried to upsell some insurance and full-tank add-ons. There was a slight issue with the card payment, but it was resolved after identifying the cause. Early car pickup was not allowed without incurring additional charges. However, the second customer service representative quickly completed the check-in process without any extra sales pitches. Picking up the car was very convenient — you could directly take the car from the designated parking space. The car was very clean, with only 2000 miles on it, four-wheel drive, wireless CarPlay, and Type-C charging ports. It had better features than the model I originally booked.

This time I experienced the entire process of handling an accident because I had a car crash in a national park. Generally, if no one is injured and the police handle the situation, the first thing to do is to get to a big city. This is because calling the car rental company and getting a replacement vehicle is much easier there. You don't need to worry about the damaged car as the company will arrange for a tow truck. Even the most basic insurance covers all accident-related losses, so you don't have to pay a penny. However, any other losses you incur are essentially not covered. For example, I lost two nights of prepaid hotel fees, spent $350 taking a taxi from the national park to a small city, and $78 for a bus back to the rental car airport. Mostly, I was too shaken after the crash to drive again, so I didn't opt for a replacement vehicle. I ended up staying two additional nights in Salt Lake City. In summary, after an accident, get to a major city as quickly as possible, because traveling without a car can be extremely inconvenient.

I did not appreciate the fact that my flight was changed to an earlier flight and FOX rent a car had vehicles available for me to use but since it wasn’t my time for pick up (even though I previously advised of the change and that I would still be bringing the car back earlier then the pick up) that I was charge approximately another $100 for a vehicle because I booked through QEEQ.

1. After landing in Salt Lake City, the car pick-up process took at least an hour of waiting in a very long line. There were only two service counters open, and the staff worked very slowly without showing any effort to make things convenient for customers. 2. During the car pick-up, we unknowingly ended up purchasing additional insurance. It was only after checking the bank statement and consulting with Zuzuche that we discovered this charge. Looking back, the staff’s communication was evasive, and it turned out to be a form of hidden charge. This behavior is quite frustrating and unpleasant. I’m not sure if this is exclusive to this Thrifty location in Salt Lake City. On my prior rental in San Jose, everything was transparent and straightforward.

Arrival- we needed a van and got a Dodge SUV. We were in the car a lot and it was crowded. The car widows were messy with kid or dog prints so we are not sure it was properly cleaned during Covid times. Car only had 1/4 tank of gas, so that is how we returned it. On departure, the agent was not at the location for our scheduled drop off time or able to give us a shuttle ride back to the airport. Uber cost $27.

This SUCKED I arrived. The budget counter could not find my reservation. Once I show them they then found 2 reservations. They could not figure it out so sent me into the main desk. These people were incompetent. I waited 30 min. Then when they got to me they told me that I had to wait 45 min for a car. Then at 45 min I check and they told me that they had no cars and there were > 10 people ahead of me. I walked over to Avis and book a car. I missed my appt.

Advantage did not have the car we want. They say that their cars are for first come first serve (base on customer that come in), even though I reserved it online. We have to upgrade and pay more for an SUV. Basically they gave us an option which isn't much option to choose from. They say reserving online only lock the price, but doesn't lock the car, which then I don't understand what is the purpose of me spending my time choosing the car for so long, because in the end, the car availability is in correct and it's totally up to what advantage have.

I was obliged to take an SUV, when I had reserved a compact. Apparently for road to ski hills....would be important to advise customers ahead of time. Going from 112$ to 1085$ US is unacceptable. Then magically offering discounts to an unacceptable price is insulting. I was a solo renter, going from 112$ to 300$ was unaccepable. Then no indications on where I drop off the car, only 1 employee on return, waited over 30 minutes only to be told I just need to drop the keys in a box.

First, they extended a trip of less than 4 days to 5 days, and the official confirmation receipt was higher than the booked price. They insisted I sign it first before I could raise objections. When I requested intervention from the car rental platform, it hardly made any difference. Only after continuous demands did they change it back to 4 days. During a vehicle inspection, I was dissatisfied and asked for an upgrade. They only mentioned a $15 daily upgrade fee but didn't inform me about an additional fee or tax of about 200 yuan, which is outright robbery.
