It was quite a horrible experience. I prepaid in full, but when I picked up the car, they told me that all the available cars in my selected category were electric. They mentioned that I would need to download an app to operate these cars, implying it would be very troublesome. I asked them to switch me to a gasoline car, and they only told me it would cost $140. The key point is, they didn't inform me it would be an additional charge. I didn't realize I was being misled until I saw the bill. Then, I had to ask the staff to cancel the vehicle upgrade. Moreover, I clearly told the staff that I had my own insurance and did not need to buy the rental company's insurance. However, they kept pushing it on me. After I explicitly refused, a $130 insurance fee inexplicably appeared on my rental agreement! I had to go back to the counter again to cancel it. Originally, the rental cost was supposed to be around $1000, but with these two hidden charges, I ended up spending an additional 2000 RMB. It's a total rip-off. If a customer isn’t fluent in English, they could easily be scammed.

The online booking was easy. The shuttle from airport to car rental place was a very long wait! We saw many other shuttle companies multiple times before ours showed up- which was disappointing- the driver was super nice tho. When we got there the people at the desk wanted our insurance policy for 3rd party rentals- which I got the email saying that BUT what they didn’t say was for how much! We had $100,000 covered but you wanted (and only provided this info on a sign when we walked into the car rental place) you wanted $300,000 and I believe not many people have that much coverage for a car rental b/c what car are you renting that cost $300,000! Therefore for us not to be stuck at the car rental we had to pay MORE money! Which was not in our budget!

It was pouring rain, and we were expected to inspect the vehicle using an iPad in an uncovered lot. Additionally, they didn't have enough iPads for all customers so we had to wait. When I finally got an iPad, the vehicle keys they gave me didn't work with any van on the lot - they were a spare set of keys to a van already rented to someone else. NU found me another van but didn't update the rental policy with the new van information until I pointed it out to them. Pick up was a real mess and there were other customers who rented children's car seats but they were broken and not functional.

It takes at least 10 minutes to drive to the offsite car rental pickup, so the 1.5 miles from airport in the description is deceptive.I have never rented a car before where they expected me to wash and vacuum the car prior to returning it before - that can be difficult when the car is full of luggage and people, and I don't know the area so finding a carwash is an added hassle. I won't be renting from this company again. The wait for a shuttle to the airport was ridiculous - We had to wait more than 20 minutes, and people behind us in line were not able to even get on the shuttle bus. They should have had 2 busses running. One other customer called Uber because he was afraid of missing his flight.

I called ACO from the Airport just after 12:00pm to send a shuttle car. My pick up time for the car was 12:00pm. By the time the shuttle picked me up and brought me to the location it was almost 2pm. They then hit me with a bunch of hidden costs and my total cost went from less than $100, as was expected, to $350 in the end. They said that since I wasn't there at 12:00pm to pick up the car, they couldn't hold it for me and they had to upgrade me to another car which cost $90 more. I called them just after 12:00pm to come pick me up and this still happened.

I took the hassle to drive back to Orlando airport to swap the car because I felt very unsafe. My only comment is that there was no space for luggage in the vehicle as none of the 15 seats could be removed or folded down. This made it very difficult loading and unloading large cases and a double buggy. This wasn't made clear on booking the vehicle. Keywords: scam, thievery, crooks, avoid. This company has a couple different names - Nextcar and OneSwitch. There may have been a third but I can’t remember. They operate in bait and switch mode. You will pay a price upfront (using a service like kayak, extending to something else like Queeq.com) but that will change significantly upon arrival. No insurance is good enough. While standing there, waiting for an eternity, 2 people walked out the door infuriated with the price changes. I would have followed in their footsteps, had I not already been delayed nearly an hour waiting for their ridiculous shuttle to take me to the office from the airport. I was on a very strict time constraints and forced to stay with this service. My $89 rental became $277 with the additional insurance charges and being forced to rent their sunpass box at $11 a day, plus the tolls. If I chose to decline the Sunpass, I would have had to pay each individual toll plus a $25 fee for each one. The exterior is filthy, with trash cans overflowing, the lobby is fairly clean, but bathrooms are disgustingly dirty. I could go on forever about how unhappy I was with this company, but I will just summarize by saying AVOID!

Our overall review on the hire company during my stay was very good. I was dealt efficiently at the desk and returning the car was simple. Now I've returned to the UK my opinion has completely changed. At the desk I was asked if I required any further excess insurance but I told the agent that I already had that cover through a company in the UK. He seemed fine with that. At that point he asked me to sign the paperwork but unbeknown to me I was signing for the Excess Insurance which I had already told him was not required. At no point did he explain about the insurance so I'd been tricked into buying this cover. An obvious case of misselling but no doubt a good commission for him. The rental car fuel policy was full to full which is normal practice. He recommended that I pay for a full tank of fuel at approx $40 so that I could bring back the vehicle empty with no extra cost. That way when I came to fill up towards the end of the vacation it would be far cheaper than if I had to refill myself-another blatant lie as I filled up on a number of occasions in various parts of Florida and never cost me more than $30. Sounds like another little scam for the rental company. I wasn't of course aware of any of these issues until I returned to the UK. I'm now faced with a bill of $419.72 for Excess Insurance which I'm contesting. Unfortunately their malpractice has spoilt what was a wonderful vacation.

Horsepower Car Rental is a very small company. The Toyota had 68000+ miles on it. There were very vary many small dents and scratches on the vehicle. Take pictures and video of the car and spare tire, always. The car had a toll transponder in it. I was never told until I picked up the car that I would have to pay $7.95/day for this service. This option was not by choice; it was required. I have ALWAYS paid Florida tolls as I go. Not a choice with Horsepower. It is MANDATORY! I will NEVER rent a vehicle from Horsepower again and I do NOT recommend them.

We landed late in the evening. We didn't know that the rental place was off-site, and had to look back through email to find a telephone number for the shuttle. It was 45 minutes from phone call to pick up. Once back in the office, we were told we need to buy a toll pass with an up front charge and a daily rate. Our insurance wasn't one of the seven they accepted, so, guess what? Another charge to pay for their insurance. I'm doing the math during this whole sales pitch and realizing we're aren't saving anything, and we are renting from a place that's 10 minutes from the terminal. Oddly enough, the employee said, "If this is too much, we can just take you back to the airport." So, that's what we did. We rented from a national company, which ended up being about the same price, right there in the airport, and had no trouble. But, our vacation started with 2 hours down the drain just to end up with no car from Horspower (why'd you take the "e" out of that word, anyway?). I wasn't comfortable with the up front charges, and it made me afraid that we were in for a big surprise when we returned the car. I guess we'll never know.

Counter staff was rude and couldn’t clearly explain what the extra fees were that he was charging us. He also tried to scam us into paying $10/day for the EZPass for video toll roads. It’s actually quite easy to avoid going on those roads. Flex seemed like the economical way to go, but in fact, ended up costing just as much as a car rental in the airport terminal, which would have been much more convenient.

Eddy and his brother a very professional and knowledgeable people and they DO offer a very good customer service. The check-in process very fast, no long lines like in big companies. They offered me a mid-size type of vehicle, instead of my compact-one without any charges And I really did like that they haven't tried to up sell me their insurance. The deposit was of a 200$, not like other companies, where it can go up to 500$ or 1.000$. I'm pleased and everything was very smooth !

My voucher was for $142.65. I declined all extra insurance, gas, etc. When I was handed my bill, it came to $187.79. This is because Value adds, without asking permission, a fee for "RSA" of $3.99 per day. "RSA" apparently is "road side assistance." I immediately told the desk person I did not approve that. She said it was too late to remove this unapproved charge, and I should call their office. This is the second time they have done this to me. This is outright theft. Also, I was told when I returned the car that I would be emailed my final bill, and I wasn't.

I was overcharged $2.40 when I picked up the car. My total rental price was supposed to be $75, of which $15 was paid during online booking and $60 to be paid at pick-up. At pick-up I was billed $62.40, ($2.40 more than the agreed $60 on my reservation). The customer service rep at the counter could not provide a satisfactory reason for the extra charge. I demand a refund the $2.40 extra charge or I will not use your services again.
