If there are multiple drivers, an extra $8 per person per day is required. Also, parking needs to be prepaid; otherwise, fines can be significant. The vehicle was spacious and relatively new. We traveled from the North Island to the South Island for 11 days and used just over two tanks of fuel. CarPlay was very convenient, and there was no need for an additional phone holder. QEEQ and Europcar coordinated seamlessly, and pickup was quick. The only downside is that claims require upfront payment and reimbursement later, though luckily, there were no costs incurred this time.

Pick-up and drop-off were very straightforward. There was no pressure to purchase insurance, and I only paid 10 NZD for a toll pass, which is useful as some roads charge tolls. With the pass, you don't have to pay manually. This is quite essential. Additionally, in New Zealand, many parking lots require you to immediately input your vehicle information at a payment machine or via an app after parking. Do not wait until you're leaving, as even during free time periods, you may be fined.

I didn't realize we were supposed to pick up the car at the international terminal. Following the signs from the domestic terminal to the rental company, we were told that we needed to go to the international terminal. Fortunately, the staff helped us handle everything directly. However, the car we got was a Mitsubishi, not the Corolla we previously drove on the South Island. Also, this Mitsubishi is a petrol-only car and consumes a lot of fuel.

The service was decent, but the car was too old and lacked power. However, it was very fuel-efficient. Various warning lights kept flashing during the trip, and it was impossible to reach the rental company after their closing hours. QEEQ provided great service and quickly helped us get in touch. The rental company responded saying there's no issue and not to worry about the warning lights; just keep driving as usual. Anyway, we managed to drive for three days, covering nearly 1000 kilometers, and refueled twice, costing about 200 dollars.

We randomly received ford focus. We expected too much but got disappointed. There was a prompting reminder that the car needed a maintenance. !!!!!Poor service from hire car company. Car had old bottles and other customers paperwork (from May 2019) in it. Was supposed to be full to full but wasn't. Phone charger didn't work. Satnav was in Japanese (for japan) but couldn't be switched off so had a running Japanese dialogue. But worst was that the renter announced as we left that he would not be there on the day we drop it off, so we had to arrange our own taxi (at our expense) to the airport! It was not clear where to leave the key, I still haven't had confirmation that all was ok (despite leaving a note and emailing them) and not be able to confirm that our deposit would be refunded. We were supposed to be using the same company (spicy cars) when we come back to the north island but plan to cancel.... poor service.

On the day of returning the car, we were in a rush to catch a flight. The owner said we had to return the car to another location and cover a $40 NZD fee. There was heavy traffic, and we arrived at their office at 8:45. The owner wasn't back yet and said they opened at 9. I was a bit frustrated, but eventually, the owner went out of his way to find a nearby repair shop's Indian worker who drove us to the airport. We managed to check in on time, and we were grateful for that.

Like: We rented the car for three weeks for about 450 euro and felt it was very good value. The car was very new with low mileage.
Dislike: We mixed up the company name with a similarly named company ezirentcarsand went there by mistake hence the delay in picking up.

Both picking up and returning the car were very convenient. Communication was timely. One month after returning the car, there were some follow-up issues, and the car rental company helped to handle them. It’s still being processed... I am speechless about the reporting behavior in New Zealand.
