I had rental insurance thru my US insurance and also on the credit card I used for booking. But customer service agent in Izmir told me that I had to buy insurance in Turkey because it doesn't show in Turkish e-devlet system that I have insurance. Of course it didn't, because I had it on US credit card Since he said he couldn't give me the car I needed, I had to spend another 5,000 TL for insurance.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The car was in great condition, but it came with an empty tank, which was a hassle as I had to find a gas station right after picking it up. Plus, when returning the car, it's hard to use up all the fuel, so renters tend to lose out a bit. It would be better if they provided the car with a full tank and required it to be returned full.

Fortunately, a taxi manager whose friend works at this rental company helped us by calling privately, but it wasted half an hour. The vehicles at this company are relatively new and much cheaper than other international brands, but prices have doubled compared to four years ago. The price for returning the car to a different location is significantly higher than returning it to the original location. As a result, I preferred to spend an extra day returning the car to Izmir, reducing the price from 4000 to 1700 yuan. Other renters may consider this option.

Very satisfied! No forced insurance purchase! Communication was very smooth! Special thanks to staff members Bilge, Muqzzez, and Serhan! All three were very kind and patient! My English was about the same level as the staff, but they patiently explained things to me multiple times, which made me feel much more at ease right after getting off the plane! I saw many comments about compulsory insurance and rude behavior if you refuse, but my experience was different. There was no counter.. we had to call to arrange pick up and drop off and I travel without a phone. Also we clarified if we needed the HGS toll card and were told no, it was covered in the car. At drop off they tried to charge us an additional 100TL for tolls. I refused to pay it.
