Whilst it seems to be the norm for Skopje, we were slightly surprised that the daily over-the-counter insurance was more expensive than the actual car rental price.

The car rental process is convenient with self-service pickup and return. The car was very clean, there were no complicated vehicle inspections, and you just need to return it with a full tank. The deposit refund was also very quick.

Counter was not open 24h and I have waited for 2 hours them. 2 days passed after renting and my deposit not released.

I would not use Avantcar in Macedonia. We were put under a huge amount of pressure to take additional insurance cover. We felt we had no choice, statements like "well if anything happens you are on your own to deal with policy, paperwork ...". We gave in and bought the extra insurance and then got nothing written from them outlining what was actually covered just a laminate to take a photo of.

The staff demanded from me to clean up the car upon returning, what was surprising, but ok, not a huge deal, I paid a visit at self service car wash before returning the car (was not extremely dirty, just standard road dust)

The car got hit from front, but they didn't repair it. Service light was always on but they told me it wasn't important. Oil light got sometimes on, i dunno why. They didn't want to inspect with me when I dropped it off. I hope they will return my deposit all back. They gave me a toddler seat which was 15 years old and all ripped off. If i didn't find a coupon which made my rent almost free, i would not work with them.

When we went to deliver the vehicle, there was no staff. They told us that there were staff in the office 24/7. We also found that they work 24/7 on the website. When we arrived at the delivery we saw a warning to leave the key and had to leave the key in the cabin without staff. Then we learned that our deposit was cut unannounced. When we checked, they threw the picture that the vehicle was defective, but we left the vehicle flawless. You may encounter such problems with other companies I recommend renting a car.
